The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) in Johannesburg is set to host a South Africa-Taiwan Virtual Trade Delegation event from 18-20 August 2020 to give an array of Taiwanese suppliers the opportunity to meet with South African-based companies looking for quality trade partners in a variety of fields.

Trade between South Africa and Taiwan has been ongoing since 1949, with imports and exports between the two countries exceeding a value of R20 billion in 2018. With physical trade shows postponed until further notice in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the SA-Taiwan Virtual Trade Delegation offers a series of online meeting opportunities over the course of the three-day event to match potential partners in the two countries in the automotive parts, houseware, surgical equipment, textiles, solar technology and other fields.

“The historic trading links between our two countries are strong, and we believe that the SA-Taiwan Virtual Trade Delegation will open up even more opportunities for important economic ties between our two countries,” says George Liu, Director of Taiwan Trade Centre, Johannesburg (Taitra). “We’re delighted to facilitate this opportunity for suppliers of quality Taiwanese-produced products to interface with businesses in South Africa – and open up new avenues for South African companies looking to diversify in a pandemic-affected business environment”.

The 14 confirmed suppliers from Taiwan will be available for a limited number of 30-minute meetings on the mornings of 18, 19 and 20 August. Registration and participation in the virtual one-on-one sessions is free, with the option to participate in multiple meetings.
