The seventh edition of Africa’s only luxury B2B travel market event, ILTM Africa 2019, set new records across the board – and the 2020 plans are already looking set to smash those!

Buyers from 25 different countries attended ILTM Africa 2019, including attendees from Kenya, Poland, Denmark and France for the first time in the event’s history. 88% of 2019’s Buyers visited ILTM Africa for the first time, with 49% of the Buyer contingent new to the global ILTM portfolio, altogether. 3 727 Pre-scheduled meetings took place in the magnificent setting at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden – an average of 52 appointments per Buyer and Exhibitor over the course of the 3-day exhibition.

Megan Oberholzer, Portfolio Director: Travel, Tourism & Sports Portfolio at Reed Exhibitions, says that early indications are that more than 60% of the Buyers set to attend ILTM Africa 2020 will be new to the market. “International Buyers have recognised the potential of the African luxury travel event – and are using ILTM Africa as the number one entry point to meet and do business with the continent’s top luxury experience providers,” she says. “More than 75% of Buyers at ILTM Africa have the power to make the final purchasing decision for their companies, making the exhibition the best place on the continent to conclude luxury travel business deals”.

The power of ILTM Africa is evident in this endorsement from #ILTMA19 Buyer Borja Gutiérrez from Sapphire Viajes, Spain: “Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience! I personally had extremely good meetings and very good contacts for the future. Apart from that, I learnt a lot for selling Africa even better to my clients. And obviously, I had a lot of fun and found good new friends! I have to say that the organization was top. Everything was perfectly timed and controlled. I was really surprised at how good and useful ILTM has proved for me.”
